My favorite part of any visual project are the mistakes that happen along the way. You invert a variable, fail to consider an edge case, and suddenly you’re looking at something completely unlike what you expected.
90% of these are of course, garbage, but sometimes the failures are themselves noteworthy enough that I tuck them away as screenshots - little artifacts picked up on the path to the working solution.
A side note: Possibly the only thing I’m really sincerely sad about with AI is that it removes this kind of experimentation and puzzle along the way - so many times error has been the provenance of some of my best ideas - I have to have new routes for that now.
This is a gallery of those foibles: the interesting failures from along the way. They’re shuffled on every visit; filter by project or tag to see the detours behind a particular piece of work.
Note this is wildly incomplete, as I wasn’t always in the habit of doing this, and I’m sure many of my screenshots were lost to time before I thought to start archiving them. Let this be a call to all: archive your failures - you’ll treasure them someday.
The friends we made along the way (bugs).
